After Care

Saniderm After Care Instructions

If your artist has applied an adhesive healing bandage, (Saniderm) please follow the following care instructions:

-Leave the bandage on for 24 hours.

-It is normal to expect the bandage to fill up with plasma, blood and ink which sometimes creates a bubble of fluid under the bandage. There is no need to remove the bandage as this is all sterile fluid and will dry under the bandage as the healing process continues.

-It is also normal to develop a mild irritation (Contact Dermatitis) around the edges of the bandage, especially if you are sensitive to medical adhesives. If this occurs and is bothersome enough to cause concern remove the bandage while in the shower after running it under warm water for a few minutes to help loosen the adhesive.

-To remove the bandage, peel up a corner while in the shower under warm water to help loosen the adhesive. Peel in a downward motion slowly until the bandage is completely removed. The skin will feel tender while removing the bandage,

-It is normal for skin to look red, wrinkled, tight dry, or shiny after removing the bandage. This will dissipate in time.

-After removal, wash with mild unscented soap (Dial Gold Soap) in warm water, pat or air dry and apply a small amount of unscented lotion (Lubriderm) whenever it feels tight, dry or itchy.

-Do not scratch or pick your new tattoo.

-Do not soak or submerge your new tattoo for at least 2 weeks after application.

-Keep your new tattoo out of direct sunlight for at least tow weeks after application and refrain from applying sunblock for at least 3 week as this can cause irritation.
